Garden Tours

Throughout the course of the season our volunteers, who are accredited guides, run tours for local groups, visitors from visiting cruise ships and specialist interest holidays from the UK and further afield, including Austria and Canada.

Each tour covers historical and horticultural points of interest and is tailored to the clients requirements.  The timings range from 30 minutes for a basic orientation, up to 90 minutes which covers all aspects of the site in detail. Some time is allocated for guests to wander at their leisure and visit La Choppe too.

Guests who wish to have a tour of Saumarez Park can arrange this through the same booking for a separate fee.

Why not take advantage of Saumarez Park Café nearby to complete the social occasion?

We are able to open the garden by special arrangement outside of standard opening hours but guests need to leave the site by dusk.

We require a minimum of seven working days’ notice to process the booking.  There is no minimum group size but we recommend a limit of 20 people.  Larger groups can be accommodated for the orientation tour only.                                                                                                        

Donations are negotiated based on the length of tour, number of volunteers involved and attendees. The money from tours of the VWKG is used for building maintenance.

Once booked tours go ahead, rain or shine, so please come prepared with suitable clothing.

Come take a look and decide if it holds promise for your next event which could be anything from a party to a performance!  The acoustics are great, it is relatively private and the planting makes for a beautiful setting.

Some local groups have already taken advantage of this amazing hidden garden; Music Theatre Guernsey used it to stage Bake Off the Musical (2021) and Midsummer Night’s Dream (2023) plus Guernsey Farmer’s Market have been regular visitors on Saturday afternoons in 2022 and 2023.

(Please note that the main garden and greenhouses will not be accessible and that VWKG does not provide any equipment or staff to set up/take down.)
