PRIMARY SCHOOL VISITS “PSV”
THE PRIMARY SCHOOL VISITS PROGRAMME
This programme is designed as a Horticultural Education programme focusing on the Primary School sector. The Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden has proved to be a favourite destination for many local school children who enjoy coming to learn about growing plants, insect life and the Victorian heritage of our Island. The Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden provides an ideal environment to inspire and capture the children’s curiosity about nature and gardening.
A number of the island's schools have visited the garden in the past and the feedback has been extremely positive. Coincidentally, many of the focus points for the “Bailiwick Big Picture Curriculum”, launched by the Education Department in 2017, are met by the PSV programme, which has been in place for a number of years.
The garden is a good outdoor learning opportunity of how plants grow in situ as well as an illustration of Victorian life.
